Dear Friends,
I have again just returned from the most wonderfully exciting, truly productive, utmost enjoyable and rather exhausting two weeks ever I have had in the short period I call my life. It began one day, a fortnight since...
First was going to Taiwan for the 1997 World Summit of
Children (WSoC). This annual event is organized in the largest
part by Peaceways, a small NGO out in San Mateo, spearheaded by
Ellen Brogren, a wonderful lady devoted to Peace and Children. In
1996, the Summit was held in Costa Rica, and in 1995 in
California. Each year, local sponsors take part in making it
happen, such as China Airlines and the Chinese Children's Fund
who, among others, contributed this year. Though relatively
unknown, Peaceways does much to give youth a voice, and aid them
in taking part in the globalhealing process.
We numbered 35, together represented 13 nations around the world,
gathered in Taipei to be a part in this, and all had a great
time. I could write a novel on each conference alone, but will
let it suffice in telling you that each was an extroardinary
experience.
I had to leave Taipei a couple of days early in order to fulfill
a previous speaking engagement at the Sister Cities International
Youth Conference,which I attended from July 23 - August 2. This
was held in San Diego, CA. There were about 120 youth from about
12 nations. Helen Kenyon invited me, and she was the Youth
Committee Chairperson, and the one responsible for bringing youth
into the conference - a truly exceptional woman, also devoted to
Children and Peace.
There are a million and two things I am working on, trying to
figure out, put together, etc... I anticipate moving to Sedona,
AZ within the next 2-3 weeks, and will have a much better idea of
where things stand.
Everything seems to grow so much bigger by the day - it's a
struggle keeping up, but I am having the best time of my life,
working like crazy on these things!
Much more to tell, but will let it wait.
Love to you all.
Peace,
Benjamin Quinto
